How to Enroll Your Child
To enroll a student, parents should take the following documents to the school:
When entering the Pitt County Schools from another district, parents should also take the following information to the school:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunization Records
- Court order for guardianship (if student is living with someone other than the parent)
- Two proofs of residence
When entering the Pitt County Schools from another district, parents should also take the following information to the school:
- Name, Telephone Number and Address of previous school attended
- Report Card or Grade Placement Information
Open Enrollment
In an effort to increase enrollment and maximize opportunities, a student may, based on open enrollment, be reassigned to another Pitt County School participating in open enrollment. Consideration for such assignments will be based upon a first-come, first-served basis, space availability, and the resulting impact on the schools affected.
Procedure for Requests
The following steps shall be taken if a parent/guardian wishes to transfer a student to a school other than the assigned school:
Transportation
No PCS bus transportation will be provided to students not attending school in the district in which they live.
Athletic Participation
The Pitt County Board of Education has implemented a one-year moratorium for athletic participation on any student who accepts an open enrollment transfer to D.H. Conley, J.H. Rose, and South Central High Schools. Any student who falls into this category must sit out all sports for one year from the transfer date. This does not apply to rising 9th graders.
Selection Process
Approvals for open enrollment will be primarily on a first-come, first-served basis. If, however, the applications for a school exceed the available capacity for that school, approval will be based on certain procedures. To find out more information about this process, click here.

- A request must be initiated by the parent/guardian of the student involved by completing a Student Reassignment Form TR-85.
- The completed form must be delivered to the Pitt County Schools Student Assignment office located at 1717 W. Fifth St., Greenville, NC, or can be emailed to: [email protected]
- Attendance Make up has 11 periods before the attendance make up is over.
Jan. 9-12 afterschool lab 205 Bus transportation
Jan. 17-19 1:00-3:00 must provide own transportation Lab 205
Jan. 20 8:30-1:00 if you do not have to make up exams in the cafeteria - Open enrollment applications will only be accepted between April 3 and June 29 prior to the year of enrollment.
- All approved kindergarten through 12th grade transfers will be for the exit grade of the school for which they are approved unless otherwise stated.
